Aubrey's Baptism

This past Friday Kyle and I headed up to MN to my sister's for Aubrey's baptism. Kyle and I, as well as BJ (my brother-in-laws brother), stood up as Aubrey's godparents. We could not have had any better weather. We spent much time outdoors, out on their patio, taking in the nice weather. Aidan was playful as always, keeping Kyle and I busy. Aubrey sure is growing fast. Courtney said she had grown 4 inches!! Such a long baby! It was a nice weekend spending time with family.

We headed back to Madison yesterday and met some friends to go to the World Brat Fest at the Alliant Energy Center here in Madison. They have lots of music stages, and of course, lots of brats! They were tyring to break the world record this year with the most brats consumed at one event. I just checked their webpage and as of an hour ago, 184,720 brats have been consumed since Friday. Kyle and I contributed our part, and each had one yesterday :) And it was delicious!

Today is a relaxing day. Kyle's parents are coming up to grill out some ribs and enjoy the weather and having the day off. I am excited for this next weekend because our neighborhood is having their garage sales, so a friend and I will be making our way around to the next Saturday in search of good deals on baby things. I'm sure we will find some things!

My baby countdown is now in the single digits...9 weeks left! WOW, exciting and scary at the same time!

Pain in the Butt...

Literally....

I had my 30 week appointment today and talked with my doctor about the back and rib pain I have been having for the past 3 weeks. Every time I sit or lie down, a sharp pain is a constant in my back, and two weeks ago it moved to the right side of my ribs. They are constantly sore and very uncomfortable. At my appointment 2 weeks ago, she suggested trying the chiropractor. So, after 5 visits with my chiropractor, nothing had changed.
Today at my appointment, my doctor said she would feel around and see if she could figure something else out. Sure enough, the baby's butt is wedged right up there underneath my right side of my ribs, making it very uncomfortable for mommy! Thus, causing the pressure in my right/mid back and my right side of my ribs. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do. We can hope the baby moves her bottom over to the left a little, but there is no saying whether that will happen or not. She suggested doing some massages and maybe setting up some Physical Therapy appointments for my back, where they will do stretching and massage. Otherwise, it might be a long 10 weeks to go...

Everything else looked great at the appointment though. My blood sugar is great, so no gestational diabetes, yet anyways. They will still check my urine at each appointment from here on out. Her heart rate was 140's, as usual. Baby girl is doing great, except for the fact that she is already wishing she had some more room in there to stretch out. Little does she know, she is only going to get more and more cramped...hopefully she moves her little booty over though so I can have some relief!!

Here and There

Whew, we have been a couple of busy bees this past week or so. Haven't even had time to update the blog. So, here is a little re-cap of our past weeks events.
Last weekend we headed back to IL to attend my cousin Keli's wedding and spend some quality time with the family. My sister and her family were back too, so it was extra enjoyable to spend time with Aidan and Aubrey. It was also the first time in 10+ years that the whole Albers side of the family has been in the same place at the same time. It was so nice to see my relatives and catch up with them at the wedding.
We headed back upto Madison on Monday and began our short 4 day work week. Last night, we had our first pre-natal class at our clinic in Fitchburg. We have the class every Wed night from 6:30-9. At first, I thought 2 HOURS!! that is so long. But, it went by super fast and was actually really informational. Last night we learned about relaxation and breathing techniques, roles and responsibilities of each partner, and starting to think about a birth plan. I was familiar with most things that were discussed, but I think it was a learning experience for Kyle. Overall, these classes should be a success!
Here are some pictures from the past weekend. I had my sister take some pictures of Kyle and I (28 weeks) because we are not hiring a professional photographer to take any for us. They turned out pretty good.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful moms out there! Even though I am not a "Mom" quite yet, I got the sweetest text message this morning from one of my good friends. It said " Happy Mother's Day. Even though baby girl is not here yet, you still do all the things a mom does to keep her child safe, healthy, and happy". So true. I have considered a myself a mom since the day I found out I was pregnant.

For me, this Mother's Day is about enjoying my pregnancy and the time Kyle and I have together before baby girl enters the world. I look back and can't remember what it is like not to be pregnant. Watching my body change weekly, feeling her move inside of me, and listening to her heartbeats at the doctors appointments are all incredible things I wouldn't change for the world. Kyle and I are so blessed that so far, we have had no complications, and we are very thankful for that.

Today is a day of relaxation in the Montgomery house. This next week is pretty crazy. We are putting on a book fair at work, which I am helping with a couple nights this week. I also have my 28 week appointment on Wed afternoon, and one of Kyle's good friends from southern IL is coming to visit us on Wed night. I have a "Breastfeeding Your Baby" class on Thursday night and Friday night we head home for my cousin Keli's wedding on Saturday. Whew...no wonder these weeks are flying by!

Coming to a close

I am 27 weeks this week, the last week of my second trimester!!! I am ready to begin the third, even though I hear it is the hardest. I have noticed within the last week or so different positions now make me uncomfortable. I have to sit on the floor a lot at work with the kids, and it is getting much harder to do comfortably. I have also noticed that I am becoming increasingly uncomfortable riding in a car (yikes, I still have 13 weeks left!!) Other things such as sleeping positions and laying on the couch are a task. If I am not laying just right, my mid-back begins to throb. I am going to the chiropractor tomorrow, so hopefully that will subside. Here is a pic of me at 27 weeks...

Other things, such as my appetite, are in full swing. I pretty much never feel full, even though I know I am. So, I am choosing healthy snacks, such as fruit or granola bars, when I am at work. Luckily so far, I have had a great pregnancy, with a few bumps in the road during the beginning. Let's hope the third trimester treats me as well as the second one has!

Baby Girl's Room

The paint is finished and the crib is set up! My dad came up a couple of days this past week to paint baby girl's room, and it looks fantastic! I will post pictures later this week, but it looks just like I imagined. He came up today to take the tape off the woodwork, and touch up some spots, and then we got to setting up the crib. Once the crib was all set up, we also moved the dresser into the room. Now it is starting to look like baby room. Kyle probably thinks I am crazy because he opened one of the dresser drawers, only to find out that there were multiple pairs of her socks in it :) He may call it crazy, but I call it nesting. Walking by her room and looking at all of her things set up makes me want her to come a little sooner :) The last thing to add to the room is a rocker/glider and a changing table (which Kyle's dad is so graciously making for us).

The baby budget is in full gear in the Montgomery household. I have been busy clipping coupons and trying to buy diapers here and there so we don't have to buy them all at once come August. I have also been checking sales weekly to stock up on wipes, etc. I can't imagine the cost of having two children in diapers, maybe I should just ask my sister!

The rest of this weekend is going to be full of yard work, house cleaning, and relaxation. We have every weekend this May booked up with my cousin's bridal shower, another cousin's wedding, a bachelor/bachelorette party, and Aubrey's baptism. We are taking full advantage of having no concrete plans this weekend and getting things done around the house. Hope everyone has a great May Day and Happy Birthday to my Brother-in-Law Kyle today!!
