Is it ok?

Is it ok to use this blog as a place to complain? :) I have not complained once about being pregnant, but now is the time. Not every moment of pregnancy is glamorous and fun, so my as well tell the not so fun stuff too, right??

It is only Tuesday and this week is taking forever. With my need to wake up every hour and a half at night to go to the bathroom, it makes for VERY LONG days. Sunday night, I did not sleep so great, and was feeling very restless all night long. Last night, I "woke up" (I don't think I really ever fell asleep) every hour and a half with the strong urge to go to the bathroom. The baby must be growing, because it is sure beginning to press down more and more on my bladder. I think by the 5th time I got up, Kyle was getting just as frustrated as I was. I think this is just a sign of the future to come with sleepless nights (before and after the baby is born)!

Along with my shrinking bladder, I have also taken on a sinus infection. My allergies have been pretty bad ever since I became pregnant (one of the many not-so-great side effects of pregnancy). I almost always have a stuffy nose. On Sunday, the normal stuffiness turned a little more painful during the middle of the night. By today, I am barely able to touch under my eyes my sinuses hurt so bad. Thank goodness for the handy Netti Pot. I have been cleansing my sinuses for two days now in hopes of some releif in the near future.

Let's just pray this week goes faster than it is right now!

16 Weeks

I am 16 1/2 weeks and feeling good. Today was the first day I have worn a pair of work pants and not been able to button them (comfortably). They were buttoned for the first half hour of my day, and then I decided that they were way to tight on my tummy and let them loose the rest of the day. Looks like I will be using those handy "Belly Bands" my sister so graciously gave me. They are just a piece of spandex fabric you put over your pants so you can still wear your pants and leave them unbuttoned. Much more comfy!!

We had our 16 week appointment on Monday, and Kyle attended with me this time. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat, which was 150 (normal). After the appointment, I headed to the lab to have blood drawn for the 16 week Quad Test. It is a test that gives you the probability of your child having Down's Syndrome or Trisomy 21. We won't get those results back for a week or so. All in all, I am still feeling well, have my appetite back, and I am enjoying the process of watching my belly get bigger and bigger :)

Candyland

If only I could live in Candyland, wouldn't that be nice! Right now, my number 1 craving is candy! Now, we all know if I only ate candy everyday that would not be very healthy...but to only dream that I could! Before I was pregnant, I NEVER touched sour candy (such as Sour Patch Kids, Sour Skittles, etc.) Now they seem the be the only thing on my mind! I am allowing my self to have a sour treat once (maybe twice) a week, but still keeping my diet on the healthy side. Lets hope this sour craving goes away soon, because it will be a struggle to maintain for the next 5 months.

In other news, our week has been busy. Kyle has been busy with work, as always. He is getting ready to go to San Diego the first week in March for a trade show. I have also been keeping ever busy with my 18 three year olds at school (with the help of a fantastic co-teacher)! We had our "Friendship Party" (since we can't say Valentine's) at school yesterday. I had 15 of the 18 families show up (which is outstanding)! We decorated heart cookies, made valentine's for family members, and passed classmate valentine's out. After organizing the party and having it yesterday, I was pretty tired last night! But, that didn't stop me from getting in some quality girl time with my two neighbor friends while Kyle and the boys went skiing.

This weekend is going to be filled with lots of de-cluttering our lives to prepare for the little one. We have already made one trip to Goodwill, but I foresee more. Whether it's Goodwill or Craig's List, I am going to conquer the clutter! :)

Weekend Getaway

This past weekend we enjoyed a little getaway from the cold weather and headed up to the Wisconsin Dells with Kyle's family. We stayed in a condo at the Wilderness Lodge and it was so nice and relaxing. Kyle has two nieces, Maddy (5) and Mekenna (3). They were very excited about going to the waterparks all weekend.

We went up Friday afternoon and the girls wanted to go swimming right away. We suited up and headed to one of the three indoor waterparks they have. There were not a lot of people there, everyone did the waterslides on Friday in anticipation that the lines would be much longer on Saturday. After swimming for a while, we headed back to the room and made tacos for dinner.

Saturday we woke up and headed to the other waterparks around 10. By the end of the day, we were all exhausted (mainly from keeping up with the girls!). To only have as much energy as they do, wouldn't that be nice!! Saturday night we headed to the arcade for the girls to spend their tokens and win prizes. Everyone was very tired, and the Illinois basketball game was on TV, so we headed back to the room around 8. Before heading back on Sunday, we hit up the Tanger Outlet Mall. It is very nice and we got some great deals.

All in all, it was a nice, relaxing family weekend. We had a great time. Now with the 9 inches of snow we are getting today, I wish we were back in the warm water!

Time to Tell

Oh what a fun weekend this past one has been!!!! We have FINALLY had the chance to share the news with our extended family and friends. We wanted to wait until my 13 week dr. appointment just to make sure everything was still ok. I had that appointment last Friday and got to listen to the baby's heartbeat. It was 150, perfectly normal. So, we called the great grandparents on Saturday, and the rest of our friends on Sunday. It has been SO much fun telling everyone and hearing their reactions.

My maternal grandparents celebrated their 70th (!!!!) wedding anniversary last week, and had a big family lunch yesterday for the whole extended family. Kyle and I did not go, as it is a four hour drive South of Madison, but I told my Grandma she could go ahead and tell the rest of the family the good news. By the time my parents had gotten to the restaurant, Grandma had spread the news and my Mom and Dad were receiving congratulations. We hope to get home at Easter and see everyone then.

For all of you out there who do not want to constantly check the blog to see if I have updated, I have put an email subscription link on the right hand column of the page. Just enter your email address, and when I update the blog, an email will be sent to notify you! Hope everyone had a great Monday!
