Weekend Re-Cap

We had another busy, but fun weekend. On Friday night, my parents came up after we got off of work to check out the baby room since my dad will be coming up to paint it this week. They got to see the crib/dresser set and check out the size of the room and make a note of the tools/supplies that will be needed to paint this week. I am excited for it to be done so we can start setting things up! Only 14 weeks to go! We went out to eat downtown at Greenbush Bar for some pizza. Even though we had a long wait, the pizza was good and it was nice to chat and catch up with them.
On Saturday Kyle and I headed down to Oswego (suburb of Chicago) to hang out with three of my girlfriends from college and their boyfriends. We had a great time. Even though I was the sober one :) I still had fun chatting and hanging out. It was so nice to see all of them since we do not get to do it very often.
Today was a lazy, rainy Sunday. A nice relaxing day with nothing to do was much needed. We are rested up and ready for another week of work. Not too much going on, hope it is nice out so we can get some yard work done and begin working on our garden!

MN trip

Ahhh, what a wonderful weekend. I headed up to MN last Thursday night to hang out with my sister and her family. What a great time I had. I finally got to meet new little girl Aubrey and play non-stop with my nephew Aidan. He is talking so much now and has developed such a personality, it is so fun to hang out with him! Here is a pic of the three of us...
Our weekend was pretty low key, which was just what I had asked for :) I gave Aidan some Play Doh for his birthday, and I think it was the hit of the weekend. I am pretty sure I heard "More Play Doh" at least 70 times :) I had also given him some sidewalk chalk that we used to decorate their driveway with. Here is us working on our masterpieces...

We went to the park, the zoo, and took wagon rides around their street. We had a great time. I think fun was had by all. I got in as much cuddle time with Aubrey as I could, when she wasn't eating or sleeping. She is such a little peanut!! Saying goodbye yesterday was tough, but, I will be seeing them in a month for my cousin Keli's wedding. I'm sure by then they will both have changed even more. It amazes me each time I see Aidan how much he has changed in a few short months...man they grow up fast!

24 Weeks

WOW, 24 weeks seemed that have slipped right past me (well, at least since week 12 when I started feeling better)! I had my 24 week appointment yesterday and everything still looks great! The baby's heartbeat was 140 and I am measuring right where I should be. My blood pressure was right at 128/89, so right on track. My next appointment is not until 28 weeks, and during that appointment I have my test to see if I have gestational diabetes, lets hope not!

In other news, this week is going MUCH better than last week. Wow, last week was rough. To my surprise, things have eased in my class this week. I do not know what I am doing that is any different than last, but lets just hope the children's good behavior sticks around!!!

I am so excited to head up to MN Thursday afternoon to visit my sis and her family. I cannot wait to meet lil Aubrey and spend some quality time with Aidan! It will be a great weekend. Kyle will be sticking around Madison and hanging out with his guy friends, as well as cleaning the house, doing laundry, cleaning the bathrooms...HAHA. Just kidding. Maybe in my wildest dreams :)

The Countdown is beginning...

I don't think I have ever been more happy to see a weekend arrive and have Friday at 3:30 roll around. This past week at work was one of my worst in 2 years :( I have a new group of children that moved up to my class on Monday, and let's just say it is the most challenging group of 3 year olds I have ever met. I have a new boy from China who speaks no English (so he cries all day b/c he is so confused), I have two boys who I assume (I'm no doctor) that are somewhere on the Autism spectrum, and I have another boy who has some sensory issues going on. WOW, lets say exhausting. Managing 18 "normal" three year olds is hard enough, but add in 4 boys who have special needs and it is no easy task. So, I have been hit, kicked, slapped in the face, and had a cup of water thrown at me all in the past 5 work days. YIKES....Now I am officially counting the days until the baby comes, these are going to be a rough 3 1/2 months.

On the other hand, I was in dire need of a nice relaxing weekend to take my mind off of the chaos at work. So yesterday morning, Kyle and I volunteered at a charity event "Meals for Haiti". It is an event made to pack over 1/2 million meals for the people of Haiti. There were 45 tables set up in a warehouse, with teams of 8 people at them. We had an hour and a half shift, and had a great time. It was so nice to see all the people there that were willing to help out those in need.

After the event, we headed over to Brookfield, WI to pick up our crib that we ordered. On our way, it dawned on Kyle that the St. Louis Cardinals (his favorite baseball team) was playing this weekend in Milwaukee at Miller Park (about 5 minutes from Brookfield). So, after picking up the crib, we headed over to Miller Park to go to the game. We had great bleacher seats, and it was such a nice day outside. After the game, we headed to our friends 30th surprise birthday party. What a great day!

Today, I am taking in the relaxation and "calmness" of the day before heading back to work tomorrow. I am excited to have a short week this week. I am heading up to my sister's house in MN on Thursday night to visit them and meet new baby Aubrey! Let's pray this week goes better than the last.

Blissful

One word to describe my massage today...blissful. Thanks to my sister who gave me a spa gift card last year for my birthday, I enjoyed a pre-natal massage this morning. Oh how nice it was! The spa was VERY nice. I was treated to an hour long pre-natal massage (they have a prego pillow you lay on for your bulging belly) as well as 30 minutes in a relaxation room that had water, tea, and all sorts of magazines with a great view of a prairie. What a nice little treat!

This past week was filled with Kyle and I taking FULL advantage of the near 80 degree temps. We were outside constantly after work, and even headed downtown to the Union Terrace right on Lake Mendota. The terrace has outside seating facing the lake and is the perfect spot to enjoy a few beverages (I had a Sprite of course). It was so packed it was hard to find a table (and they have about 200 tables). But, once we did, we relaxed and enjoyed the weather and the scenery.

Yesterday, we didn't dare let one of the last warm days slip away, so we heading to the driving range to hit a few golf balls. I had anticipated this to be quite a task for me, but I actually did pretty good. Give me one more month, and I don't think swinging a golf club will be an option with my belly :)

My mom has sent a few fabrics to me that she picked up from JoAnn's so we can start preparing the baby room. She is graciously making the crib bedding for me, so I am busy picking out fabric and paint colors, something I am very excited to do! Every new mom has a vision of their baby's nursery, so I can't wait to start pulling things together and getting it ready. My dad is coming up sometime in late April/May to paint, so after that, it will be ready for decorating! Hope you all have a great Easter. We are having Kyle's family up tomorrow, so we will have a nice day with family and good food!
